Born and raised in the south, Brandee Martin first thought her musical career might end up at the Grand Ol' Opry or in Nashville singing for her supper. Brandee grew up craving the spotlight. Using anything as her makeshift stage – the fireplace hearth, the picnic table, even laundry baskets – she forced her siblings to be her band so that she could perform. This passion led her to pursue opera in college, where she also led an a cappella group and was lucky enough to perform in operas in Italy during the summers. While Brandee loved being in operas, her true dream was to be a rockstar. She set out for her first trip up north to audition for American Idol in New York City, where she made it through some audition rounds but was ultimately told that her personal life was just too boring for the show. After the devastation, Brandee took a brief hiatus from music to enter the corporate world. When she moved to Boston, she landed the spot of lead singer for a band called Fat Tuesday. When the band broke up, she knew she had to find a way to stay onstage. Luckily, she found the talented musicians of Breaking Point who were willing to let her join them as one of the lead singers, making her dreams of becoming a rockstar a reality! Brandee is currently actively seeking ways to increase personal drama in her life in the event that American Idol auditions come to Massachusetts.
